Who We Are

The Imperial Institute of Ceramic Science and Technology (IICST) is a professional body dedicated to the Ceramics, Glass, Refractories, Composites, and Allied Industries. Headquartered at 710, Samanvay Silver, Munjmahuda, Vadodara – 390020, Gujarat, India, IICST operates as a key division of CECA ASIA (Composites Excellence Center of Asia).

IICST serves working professionals, corporates, and students across India and internationally, providing a structured pathway to recognised qualifications in ceramic and allied sciences — whether through correspondence programmes, online learning, or in-person training workshops.

Our programmes cover Glass, Ceramic, Refractory, Mineral Processing, Abrasives, Advanced Technical Ceramics, and related fields, equipping professionals with the skills and credentials required by modern industry.

Our History

IICST was established to address a significant gap in the Indian ceramics and glass industry: the absence of a recognised professional body capable of formally qualifying experienced workers who lacked conventional engineering degrees. Thousands of skilled workers were contributing to these industries without any pathway to professional recognition.

Drawing inspiration from the model of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) in the UK, IICST was founded to create an equivalent professional qualification framework suited to the Indian context — one that acknowledges practical expertise and supplements it with rigorous technical education.

Since its inception, IICST has grown to offer examinations at centres across India including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Vadodara, Kolkata, and Khurja, and has affiliated with CECA ASIA to extend its reach across the broader Asian ceramics and composites sector.

Strengthen the technological skill sets of working professionals through certification examinations, short-term courses, ISO auditor programmes, and Six Sigma training.

Major Objectives

Promote and advance the study and practice of Ceramic Design, Science, Technology and Engineering in India.

Award Membership Certificates to competent persons by conducting examinations per the prescribed syllabus.

Organise public and in-house custom-built training programmes in Glass, Ceramics, Advanced Technical Ceramics, Refractory, Monolithic, Castable, Cement, and related fields.

Support participants in preparation for the API–936 Certification Exam (American Petroleum Institute).

Impart online/correspondence education alongside classroom training to professionals working in Glass, Ceramic, Refractory, and Allied Industries, making them qualified technologists and designers.

Inculcate cultural change in corporate houses and manufacturing industries through Six Sigma (Green Belt & Black Belt), modern management tools, and business excellence frameworks.

Recognise professional and academic achievements by offering Institute memberships across multiple categories (Individual, Corporate, MSME, Student).

Provide manpower data bank services and assist industries in accessing relevant government financial schemes.

Conduct product testing, certification, and quality audit services for ceramic and allied industry stakeholders.
